It started with two sisters and an idea.

What began as Hey Sister Medical Spa grew into something we never quite expected. Storm Wellness Northwest is the next chapter—a broader medical practice built from the same curiosity, relationships, and belief that good care should feel personal.

Two sisters, one lease, and a pink couch.

Like most things, Hey Sister Medical Spa started as an idea.

My younger sister was an emergency department nurse with an earlier career in cosmetology. I was a longtime nurse who had gone back to school and become a nurse practitioner. One day, she called and asked whether I would be interested in being the medical director of an aesthetic practice she wanted to start.

I immediately said yes—which surprised her, because I am decidedly not the “yes sister.”

But for some reason, this made sense.

We found a decidedly unglamorous office space near our mom and my sister. The location was unconventional, the rent couldn't be beat, and we figured that if the whole thing failed, we'd split the rent and turn it into an enormous sewing room. Sewing happened to be our other shared hobby.

So we signed the lease.

And, naturally, bought our first piece of furniture on Facebook Marketplace: a pink couch.

Building Hey Sister

The office needed...pretty much everything.

And Imagination in particular.

We challenged ourselves to furnish and decorate the space for $1,500, which resulted in a remarkable amount of Facebook Marketplace sleuthing, secondhand treasure hunting, and free furniture. Some of those free finds still serve us today!

Meanwhile, we kept our full-time healthcare jobs, pursued additional education in aesthetics, and started seeing patients.

The plan was fairly simple: create a welcoming place where people could ask questions, understand their options, and receive aesthetic treatments without pressure or pretense.

Then something unexpected happened.

It worked.

FEBRUARY 2023

The little side project started growing.

Patients came. Then they came back. They told their friends.

We continued learning, added treatments, and slowly discovered that the little practice we'd created as something of an experiment was becoming a real business.

Then our patients started asking different questions.

People originally came to us for aesthetics.

But conversations rarely stayed there.

Patients began asking about their weight. Their energy. Their hormones. Why things that had worked for them before didn't seem to work anymore.

So a former supply area just off the waiting room became mine. It wasn't fancy, but it gave us somewhere to sit, talk, and begin doing an entirely different kind of work.

Weight management became an especially important part of the practice, and those questions sent me down an entirely new professional path. I dove into obesity and metabolic medicine—studying, attending conferences, joining professional organizations, collaborating with other clinicians, and developing a much deeper understanding of obesity as a chronic medical condition deserving thoughtful, evidence-based care.

And then we encountered a very practical problem: I needed an office.

Hey Sister had been designed as a medical spa. We had treatment rooms and a waiting area—but we hadn't exactly planned for sitting down with patients for comprehensive medical visits.

So we did what small businesses do.

We made one.

That tiny office represented a much bigger change.

The practice was beginning to outgrow not only its physical space, but also the idea we'd originally had for it.

What started as a place for aesthetic medicine was becoming somewhere patients came to talk about their health.

We weren't just building a medical spa anymore.

We were building a medical practice.

And then, life did what life does.

As the business changed, our lives changed too.

Eventually, my sister needed to step away from the day-to-day business. It wasn't necessarily the ending we'd imagined when we sat together on that pink Marketplace couch, but it was the right decision for her and her family.

I found myself asking a new question:

What should this practice become now?

The answer wasn't to leave Hey Sister behind.

It was to build on what we'd started.

From Hey Sister Medical Spa to Storm Wellness Northwest

Storm Wellness Northwest grew out of the realization that the patients walking through our doors didn't divide themselves into neat categories.

A person interested in feeling more confident in their skin may also be navigating menopause.

Someone seeking help with weight may actually be concerned about their blood pressure, energy, sleep, or long-term health.

A man asking about testosterone may also need a conversation about metabolic health.

And sometimes someone simply wants their skin to look a little healthier.

Those things can coexist.

So the practice grew to reflect the way we actually care for people: bringing together obesity and metabolic medicine, hormone care, men's health, wellness, and medical aesthetics within one practice.

Hey Sister Medical Spa didn't disappear in that transition. It became the foundation of the medical aesthetics division of Storm Wellness Northwest.

Today

A little more room to grow.

The name changed. The philosophy didn't.

We still believe in taking time to educate patients.

We still believe treatment should be personalized.

We still believe the best results come from listening first.

We still believe patients deserve honest conversations about what medicine can—and cannot—do.

And we remain committed to helping people make informed decisions about their health, their appearance, and how they want to feel in their own bodies.

Do you take insurance?+

For most of our history, Storm Wellness Northwest has been a cash-pay practice by design. This has allowed us to offer longer, more personalized visits without the time constraints often associated with traditional insurance-based care. Our standard fees are: New patient consultation (60 minutes): $299 Follow-up visits (30 minutes): $149 We’re currently in the process of becoming credentialed with select insurance plans and look forward to offering insurance-covered services where appropriate. As those contracts become active, we’ll announce them on our website and social media. Many laboratory tests can already be billed through Quest Diagnostics using your insurance, or you may choose discounted self-pay pricing if you prefer.

Where are you located?+

Our office is located on the second floor above the Wayside Market (Shell gas station). The entrance is behind the building through the commercial glass door, which is flanked by large planters. Once inside, take the stairs or elevator to Suite B. The address is 1309 NE 134th St. Suite B Vancouver Washington 98685.

Can I see you virtually if I live in Oregon?+

Yes. Telehealth visits are available for patients who are physically located in Washington or Oregon at the time of their appointment, as Renee Storm, APRN, is licensed to practice in both states. If you’re traveling or live outside Washington or Oregon, you’re always welcome to schedule an in-person visit at our Vancouver, Washington office.

Is this still Hey Sister Medical Spa?+

Yes. Storm Wellness Northwest is the next chapter of the same practice. While many patients first knew us through Hey Sister Medical Spa, our services have expanded to include metabolic health, obesity medicine, hormone optimization, primary care, and wellness medicine. Our new name better reflects the comprehensive care we provide today.
