What to expect
What is an ADVATx treatment like?
One reason we chose ADVATx is that meaningful laser treatment doesn't necessarily have to mean disappearing from the world for a week.
Treatments are generally quick and designed to require little social downtime. Depending on what we're treating, you may experience temporary redness or other short-lived changes after treatment.
There are no incisions or injections involved.
And you don't have to know which wavelength or treatment protocol you need before you come in. That's our job.
We'll evaluate your skin, talk about what bothers you, and determine whether ADVATx—or something else we offer—is the most appropriate treatment. The manufacturer specifically describes ADVATx treatments as gentle and associated with minimal social downtime.

ADVATx gives us an impressive range of treatment possibilities, but a laser is ultimately a tool. Good treatment begins with understanding what we're looking at, why it's happening, and what outcome we're actually trying to achieve.
At Storm Wellness Northwest, ADVATx treatments are performed by Renee Storm, APRN, and Ashley Shawcroft, RN. As medical professionals, both approach laser treatment with the same attention to assessment, safety, and individualized treatment planning that guides the rest of our care. They share a particular interest in skin health and natural-looking results—not simply treating what is visible, but understanding the skin as a whole.
We don't believe every skin concern needs a laser—or that every patient needs the same laser treatment. We begin by evaluating your skin, discussing your concerns and goals, and considering how ADVATx may fit into a broader treatment plan. Sometimes that means laser treatment alone; other times, the best approach may combine laser with medical-grade skincare, peels, microneedling, regenerative treatments, injectables, or simply time.
Our goal isn't to make your skin look “treated.”
It's to help your skin look healthier.

Is ADVATx right for me?
Laser treatment is still medical treatment.
Before recommending ADVATx, we'll consider your skin type, medical history, medications, current skin condition, recent sun exposure, and—most importantly—what you're actually hoping to improve.
The number and frequency of treatments depends on what we're treating. A few visible vessels may require a very different approach than acne, persistent redness, pigmentation, or gradual improvement in overall skin quality.
Sometimes ADVATx is the right tool. Sometimes another treatment—or a combination of treatments—makes more sense. That's what the consultation is for.
We'll evaluate your skin, talk through your goals, and build a realistic treatment plan rather than automatically recommending a package.

What does ADVATx treat?+
ADVATx is a dual-wavelength laser that addresses rosacea and facial redness, broken capillaries, acne, acne scars, fine lines, uneven texture, sun damage, and enlarged pores. Because it combines two wavelengths, we can often treat multiple concerns in one session.
Does ADVATx hurt?+
ADVATx is generally a very comfortable laser treatment. Most patients notice warmth during treatment, and some describe the sensation as slightly “prickly,” but it is typically very well tolerated. In fact, patients sometimes comment that the treatment is surprisingly relaxing. Targeted treatments can feel a little different. When energy is concentrated on a specific area—such as an individual vessel or spot—you may feel a brief sensation similar to a rubber band snap. Comfort can vary depending on the area being treated and the treatment settings, and we’ll check in with you throughout the procedure.
How much downtime should I expect?+
ADVATx is designed to improve skin quality with minimal downtime. Most patients experience mild redness for a few hours to a day after treatment. More aggressive settings may cause slightly more redness or swelling, which we will discuss during your consultation.
How soon will I see results?+
Some patients notice improvement within days, while others see gradual changes over several weeks as the skin responds and collagen remodels. Results vary based on the concern being treated and the number of sessions.
How many treatments will I need?+
The number of treatments depends on your concerns and goals. Many patients benefit from a series of 3–6 sessions (depending on concern) spaced a several weeks apart, followed by occasional maintenance treatments.
Can ADVATx be used on all skin types?+
Yes. ADVATx is FDA-cleared for use across all Fitzpatrick skin types (I–VI), allowing us to treat a wide range of skin tones. That doesn't mean laser treatment is one-size-fits-all. Skin type, the condition we're treating, recent sun exposure, medications, and other individual factors influence how we approach treatment. Before treatment, we'll evaluate your skin and your goals and develop a treatment plan specifically for you. If we believe another treatment would be a better or safer choice, we'll tell you that too.
Can ADVATx be combined with other treatments?+
Yes. ADVATx pairs beautifully with medical-grade skincare, neurotoxin, filler, microneedling, and PRF. We'll help you build a timeline that treats your skin safely and effectively without over-treating.
What should I avoid before or after treatment?+
Before treatment, avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure, and let us know about any recent changes to your medications, skincare products, or health. Depending on what we're treating, we may also ask you to temporarily stop certain active skincare ingredients before your appointment. After treatment, be gentle with your skin. We typically recommend good sun protection, avoiding excessive heat and sun exposure, and temporarily holding potentially irritating products such as retinoids, exfoliating acids, or scrubs. Because aftercare can vary depending on the wavelength, settings, and condition being treated, we'll give you specific instructions for your treatment before you leave.
